Our Technology

OrganoPlate® is a microfluidic 3D tissue culture plate, supporting up to 96 tissue models on a single plate. Its unique PhaseGuidetm technology enables cells to interact and migrate freely between channels. Work with (co-)cultures in or against an ECM, optimized microenvironments, and perfused tubular tissues without interference of artificial membranes.

The OrganoPlate® platform

Membrane-free tissue culture
OrganoPlate® employs a unique patented liquid handling technology, called Phaseguides™. Phaseguides™ are meticulously designed meniscus pinning barriers. They enable precise, barrier-free definition of culture matrices and cells in 3D, supporting cell-cell interactions and unprecedented imaging and quantification. OrganoPlate is versatile, supporting chemical gradients of chemical compounds and proteins and co-culture conditions. Enabling you to develop (complex) tissue models straightforwardly.

Perfusion without pumps and tubing
Continuous media perfusion through the microfluidic networks in the OrganoPlate mimics blood flow and enables the exchange of nutrients, oxygen, and metabolites. The unique gravity-driven leveling technology maintains flow without pumps and tubing, making the OrganoPlate suitable for any throughput. The OrganoFlow® provides continuous medium flow in the OrganoPlate with minimal settings required.

About the OrganoPlate

Compatible & automatable
SBS-standard 384-well OrganoPlate® format, compatible with automated imaging and robotic liquid handling equipment.

Medium perfusion, pump-free
Effortless continuous medium flow for metabolic homeostasis, compound delivery & sampling, interstitial flow, and exposure to shear stress.

Co-culture, membrane-free
Layered tissues without artificial membranes with perfect imaging, for studying barrier-free cell interactions, migration, invasion, transport, and angiogenesis.

Excellent (3D) imaging
High-quality optical materials with fixed tissue dimensions in a single horizontal plane for automated fluorescent, confocal, and standard light microscopy

Applications

Cost-effective & comprehensive ecosystem

  • Fit-for-purpose
  • Several versatile microfluidic designs
  • Requires the lowest investments in dedicated equipment possible
  • Suitable for developing just a few human tissues to a full-blown phenotypic screen

Broad assay compatibility
Immunostaining, barrier integrity, TEER, transport, viability, off-plate assays like LC-MS, qPCR, sequencing, and many more. All requiring only minimal adjustments to existing protocols in your (confocal) microscope, high-content reader, and other standard equipment.

Low compound absorption
Only low-absorbing materials are used in the OrganoPlate®, no PDMS. This enables full control of compound concentrations in your assays.
